hobbies?

what do you guys do for fun?

for me, I love river-rafting on the American River, camping and hiking in Yosemite. I equally love simmering in my favorite book at a local coffeeshop, sipping my chai lattee or caramel machiatto! :)

I love caramel machiatos! You should try the white chocolate mocha. Mmmmmmmm. I'm from Seattle, hometown of Starbucks, and there are two shops on my block!

I love randomly exploring forests or nature trials and sledding, although I did have a bad experience while sledding in the dark on a very icy hill last year...to add insult to injury the park ranger showed up while I was in a crumpled, dazed heap to tell us that we had to get out because it was after hours.

Also watching Disney movies with my brothers. If only I memorized school material half as well as I memorized lines and songs from Disney movies...

Oh and can't forget the beach and sand castles! But the beach is only for car trips to the Great Lakes.

listening to the music of john williams (you've gotta listen too, it's amazing!), journalism/media, hypnosis + out of body experiences

doing stuff with my best friend (and by "stuff" I mean taping eggs to our heads and running around playgrounds at 3 AM), reading, making up futures, and sitting looking at interesting things, like grass and snow and fire. Next to the library there is a basement store that has windows that look out into concrete pits, if you know what I mean. I like to climb into the third pit from the right and burn things and sing. I used to be all into anime/manga but I only like a few now: Azumanga Daioh, Haibane Renmei, Maison Ikkoku, and Parakiss. I have a torrid love affair with caffeine.

I love to watch people.

Hobbies: craftsy stuff like drawing, crocheting (I'm in a scarf craze now), and scrapbooking, riding horses (can't wait for my baby to get back from the trainer's), taking long walks in the fields and woods and finding streams to wade in, reading classic literature (I actually...LIKE it), and argumentative or explorative conversations with friends.

well this is embarrassing:
anime, video games, liquor/wine, movies. fantasy/SF. theatre, screenwriting, bad poetry. daydreaming.

awww you guys all sound so fun and awesome!

r u from sf invictus? i'm from oakland.

i love reading plath's poetry!

I like drinking tea and eating ramen noodles. Avoiding homework is always nice.

I love dancing--wait, let me preface that with an undying love for all types of music, jazz, hip hop, classical, pop, all sorts of rock, etc. etc. etc.

And I love film. No snobbery here--hand me trashy action films, quiet indie films, and deep, devastatingly intellectual films in equal measures. Lost in Translation, Amadeus, Pulp Fiction, Finding Nemo, Adaptation, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban--you name it. The sexier, the sleaker, the better.

And literature, maybe my favorite thing of all. I love to read, I love to write. I hope to work for a publisher some day.

Dancing while I'm listening to music--a book in one hand, a mug with tea in the other--while a great film is blaring in the backround. That's how I like to spend my friday evenings. :-D

((revel at my shamelessness: Barack Obama '08! Woo-hoo!))

Amadeus was a beautiful opera! Finding Nemo is awesome, but I liked Monster's Inc better!

Haha, who has time for hobbies when you're applying to Harvard?!

Who has time to apply to Harvard when you're hobby-ing it up? :-)
