Hockey Boarding and 11th grade

my son wants to go to prep school. Plays hockey. Would enter in 11th grade. Any schools accept 11th graders?
Thanks

My son is also interested in applying for 11th grade. One coach told me that students sometimes/often repeat 10th grade in that situation. I’m still investigating. My son is attending the preprep showcase and we hope to learn a lot more about the process there.

Many boarding schools do accept 11th graders. However, in general, most boarding schools accept the majority of students in 9th or 10th grades. However, Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter take a relatively large number of 11th graders (Andover tries to take around 25 new 11th graders). I’m not too sure how good they are at hockey, but I know both Andover and Exeter are really good at sports in general.

Berkshire School has an outstanding hockey program, and I believe it admits a few 11th graders each year. It also has new facilities and unparalled academics even in comparison to a “top school”. Beautiful campus and wonderful courses and programs as well. Definetly take a look at Berkshire!

Phillips Exeter accepts a bunch of uppers (30 plus a year), and our hockey team is pretty decent, and not to sound biased or anything but Exeter facilities and academics are hard too beat :)

It is tough for applicants to enter in 11th grade. I’d recommend applying to a lot of schools that are interesting.
