@hockeykid76 you can get in at all schools if a coach has you on their preferred list. It does not however make you recruited. All of these schools bring in repeat juniors and PGs and by and large those are the kids that play. If you are truly one of the best players in the country you do not want to attend any of these schools for hockey as Prep hockey is absolutely mediocre. Avon, Selects Academy, Dexter, Thayer, Rivers, St Sebastians, Salisbury and Westminster are true hockey programs for the very best players. Nothing wrong with attending a top school and playing hockey but it depends on your goal. You will likely not play much as a 10th grader even if you are very good.
i had interest from avon and salisbury but i would rather go to a strong academic school rather than a powerhouse. andover and exeter are having strong years and i would rather go there and get a good education than go to a struggling avon and be overshadowed by seniors and pgs
@hockeykid76 Andover recruits heavily at the 11th 12th and PG year, and that is where the vast majority of their team comes from. I cant speak for Exeter or Milton. Deerfield likes to develop players. You will likely need assistance from coaching staff in the admissions office - your best chance of getting in will be at the school whose coach is most in your corner.
@GMC2918 not exactly true for Deerfield. We had freshman and sophomores play all year - one of our best players is a goalie who was a sophomore. If you are as good as you claim @hockeykid76, and come to DA, you will absolutely get playing time. We do bring in a lot juniors and PGs, but you still will play.
Andover’s hockey program has been gutted recently. They didn’t even have a JV team this year, and I heard they had 14 players on their varsity from our JV coach.
