hockey tickets

can someone explain the procedure for obtaining hockey tixs (how long to wait in line, etc.)

you had to get a number online some time last week...

today was the last day ... you have about 20 more minutes to fill out the form at cornellbigred.com

then, you have to stop by the ticket office tomorrow and pick up a line number.

ok, so i got my line number. assuming my number is eligible, about how long is the wait for tickets? is it 3 hrs or is it overnight? thanks!!!!!

it's overnight. the line starts at like 10 PM and tickets are handed out around 6 PM the following day.

for reference, what number do you have and when did you get it? I'm trying to figure out the odds of getting tickets...

im 1500 i think, i went friday afternoon, the last possible time i think! odds are totally random tho, the number is out of thin air.

yes, but i'd like to know how many we're competing with.

looks like 1200 out of 1500 undergrads will get tickets.

8 out of 10, not bad.

2000 numbers, 1200 tickets. theyll pick 1350. 150 wont camp out.

tale from the past ... this sounds fairer and warmer than the old process ... but the old one sounds more fun and better for the hard core fans. When I was at Cornell (late 70s - early 80s) there was no handing out of numbers so it was essentially first come first serve ... so people would camp out 1-2 days to be near the front of the line. Eventually the school figured having people freeze outside a couple days was not such a great idea so they had the line form inside the last night ... and then people camped outside to get in line for the line inside. This sounds nuts but hanging with my friends and figuring out line coverage, food, studying, and ragging on the frats who had a huge advantage in this system made for some great times (and great seats ... right corner last seats before the glass gets tall).

i agree that sounds more fun, though administration decided to change the process after students started spending 5 or 6 days in line ... and not in class
