I would skip Trinity......it's "Prep City".

Trinity College in Connecticut? it's not like it's Wheaton or Holy Cross, if he can handle those two than Trinity is a step below and much more culturally diverse, and atleast your in Hartford not the suburban mecca of New England that is Middlesex and Worcester.

Trinity is more diverse, although not largely so.(althought the area is) I know someone that got her masters there and she said there is a lot of drinking, but the academics are solid. We saw Wheaton this summer and it seemed so small and isolated. Some students at Clark had friends/siblings at Wheaton and they said both were good schools but Wheaton was more "preppy" and everyone seemed the same. You can't say that about Clark! Reminded me a bit of the students at Wesleyan...go to the beat of their own drummer.
Anyone check out Drew? That is similar to the above mentioned, small, but not as isolating as Wheaton or maybe Lafayette. The train station is 10 minutes walking from campus which is nice.

Drew and Clark go in the same bread basket for me, both great well rounded middle-of-the-road schools that excel in social sciences. I would check out Drew aswell if you want economics or government.

Thanks Cre8tive1.

My D & I visited both & did not feel they are alike. I got the feeling
professors are very reachable at Lafayette & the kids were very, very
friendly and down to earth (we had lunch with 3 guys & 1 girl).
Holy Cross did not seem as friendly & the city seems very gritty.
Although my daughter will probably not apply to either the focus
on internships at Lafayette also appealed to us.

Gritty...Worcester is a large town that tries to hard to be a city, they're trying hard to support their businesses, but a lot are moving out, including the Galleria, Worcester's sole mall just shut down completely, now you have to go over the hill to Auburn.

Might want to check out Holy Cross during a football game-great atmosphere on campus. HC students as a whole are friendly and very supportive of the school. Also the alumni giving rate at Holy Cross is usually the highest of all Patriot League schools at around 50%.

The Greendale Mall is located in Worcester so there is mall shopping available in Worcester. And there are a lot of colleges in Worcester so there are a lot of college students in the area. Agree that Worcester is gritty, very apt description.

Okay, a mall with an actual department store, for most, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls do not cut it, the only place worth stoping in there is Best Buy. Maybe California spoiled me, but a mall in my category actually had a department store, JcPenny, Macys, Nordstrom, Sears, something!
