I realize Minnesota is a mediocre team, but Michigan is completely dominating the game. We should be ranked well in the top 15 come tomorrow since a bunch of teams ranked between #7 and #18 will have lost by then.

Go blue!

LMAO, Michigan isn’t good enough to be in the top 15. Minnesota is terrible; Michigan should be whooping their ass. I still cannot forget that Appalachian State loss in Ann Arbor, a couple years back.

calling minnesota mediocre is beyond generous…even calling them bad is being super nice.

StanfordCS, your post isn’t very classy. The year Michigan lost of Appalachian State, the team still finished 9-4 with a win over Florida in the Capital One Bowl.

Destroying any Big 10 team the way Michigan is doing to Minnesota is impressive. Minnesota may be mediocre, but they gave USC a hard time. They aren’t such a bad team and beating them by 50 points is worth noting. Whether Michigan deserves to be a top 15 team is not the point. Teams have to prove themselves all season long to earn the distinction of a top 15 ranking. However, the fact of the matter is, Michigan is most likely going to break into the top 15 as of tomorrow. Here is why:

Michigan is now ranked #19 and…

16 South Florida lost badly to Pitt on Thursday

18 Arkansas is getting losing badly to #14 TAMU

Michigan is now up to #17. But that is not all. You have two other games that wll definitely propel Michigan higher, regardless of the outcome:

7 Wisconsin vs #8 Nebraska

11 V Tech vs #13 Clemson

The loser of those two games will likely drop out of the top 15, making way for Michigan to make it into the top 15.

Heck, given the extreme way in which we beat Minnesota, we could even leap over teams ranked over us, even if they win today. For example, #17 Texas will probably beat Iowa State, but Michigan could well overtake the Longhorns in the polls.

With a couple of possible upsets, Michigan could even climb close to #10. The following games are going to be very interesting:

6 Stanford vs UCLA

10 South Carolina vs Auburn

15 Baylor vs Kansas State

Of course, none of that matters. Michigan’s real schedule starts next week. Playing an underrated Northwestern team at night and on the road next week is going to be tough. MSU, OSU and Nebraska are also tough. Michigan si going to have to win at least 4 of its remaining 7 games if it is to make a statement this year.

That was an awesome game. Can’t wait until we’re in the Top 15. I particularly liked the play where one of our running backs threw a touchdown pass and it was good to see Gardner get some experience at QB.

Stay classy, Stanford.

58-0. I cannot remember the last time Michigan won by such a margin. We will probably be ranked between #12 and #14 come tomorrow. The question is, how long will we stay there? Is Michigan truly improving and worthy of its top 20 ranking or is it overrated? Only time will tell.

Minnesota is not a mediocre team. They are a terrible team that got blown away last week by a FCS team from North Dakota. Today they started the back up quarterback because the starter was hurt. The 58 points were exciting but I wouldn’t consider it impressive. I thought the goose egg on the other end was impressive. A year ago we would have yielded a few touchdowns.

We will know more next week when we play a mid-division Northwestern team. Even more on October 15 if we can beat Little Brother.

Regardless of whether Minnesota is merely mediocre or terrible (in which case USC sucks too and the PAC 12 is a joke) is immaterial. Beating any division I team 58-0 is impressive.

Michigan will definitely be ranked anywhere between #11-#12 in tomorrow’s polls. Here’s why:

18 Arkansas beat #14 TAMU in a very close game. TAMU will definitely drop below Michigan, but given how close the game was, Michigan could also overtake Arkansas

16 South Florida lost to Pitt

15 Baylor lost to Kansas State

12 Florida lost to Alabama

11 VTech lost to Clemson

10 South Carolina lost to Auburn

8 Nebraska lost to Wisconsin (welcome to the Big 10 Cornhuskers!)

With those 7 teams ranked ahead of us losing, we are definitely going to be ranked #12, but like I said, since Arkansas’s win was not that impressive, Michigan could leap over them to #11.

Unfortunately, Texas beat a solid Iowa State team soundly and Stanford is most likely going to beat UCLA.

Outside of Denard Robinson, Michigan is terrible. I’d love to see Michigan face tougher competition like Alabama or LSU. Alabama and LSU’s defenses would expose Michigan’s weakness and not to mention, Denard Robinson is not a very good “in-the-pocket” passer, he is more of an “option-quarterback”.

As usual StanfordCS, you are very classy. Clearly, Michigan is not going to return to the Football elite overnight. It will take at least 2-3 seasons before Michigan is back atop the college football world as it was from 1900-1950 and from 1970-2007.

And your wish will come true next September, when Michigan will play Alabama in Dallas.

Before you call StanfordCS out for not being classy, you may want to want to phrase your enthusiasm differently.

3bm103, this is a Michigan forum. Nothing wrong with some chest bumping. Had I posted the same thread on a general forum or on another university’s private forum, I would definitely agree that it would not be appropriate. However, this is a private Michigan forum intended primarily for Michigan alums, fans, current students and prospective students. Besides, how else would you describe a 58-0 win with the bench playing most of the second half?

StanfordCS, on the other hand, is a guest on this forum. His posts are out of line.

There are many other classier words you could have used. And I wouldn’t have said a word had you not criticized somebody else for their lack of class. I would hope that someone with an education from Michigan could have come up with something better.

In your opinion. I saw nothing wrong with his giving an opinion and if you truly feel he is a “guest” then he should be treated as such. I would hope that others are welcome here and treated with some respect.

^^^^Oh please…Lighten up Francis. Alexandre was just using a common expression that is appropriate for a total domination of one team over another in a fan forum. He didn’t go to the Minnesota board to rub it in and he didn’t say Michigan was a great football team either. A poster, who I have never seen in this forum before, came here and pooh-poohed what Michigan has accomplished so far this year 3bm. Certainly there are classier words that he could have used, but what Michigan did to Minnesota was indeed open a can of whoopass.

Did you even watch the game on Saturday?

3bm, I actually defended Minnesota, saying that it is not a terrible team. Describing the outcome of the game as opening a can on the Michigan forum is not, in any way, lacking in class, especially when you consider the result. I did not say anything negative about the University of Minnesota or their football team/program.

However, StanfordCS displayed a lack of class in both his posts on this thread. Personally, I welcome all opinions on this forum, but that does not change the fact that insulting one’s host is never acceptable.

I would describe StandordCS as harmless trolling rather than lacking in class. Football threads invite themselves to this. In any event, a great win yesterday for the blue but not much of an indicator of what is left to come. The team looks like it is getting better but the Gophers are really bad. We’ll learn a lot more about this team in the next couple of weeks.

But insulting one’s guest is? I never said you insulted Minnesotta or their team in any way. I said that if you’re going to accuse someone of being classless, you should adhere to higher standards in your own posts. He merely expressed his opinion and for that you called him “classless”

@Alexandre, I’m also a prospective student, although Michigan is not my first choice. Which is clearly indicated by my username.

@GoBlue81, Yes I did watch the game and they beat Minnesota, not that big of a deal.

You can boast about how good Michigan is when they actually beat worthy opponents. Michigan’s schedule is whack, they have played terrible teams all year, with the slight exception of Notre Dame, which U Mich only won by 4.

And, Alexandre how am I classless? Is it because my opinion is different than yours?

@res ipsa, So I’m a “■■■■■” because I don’t agree that Michigan deserves to be in the top 15? It’s good to know expressing a different opinion makes me a “■■■■■”.

We’re ranked #12 in the AP Poll and #11 in the Coaches’ Poll :-)
