Michigan 31, MSU 13

Michigan continues to roll. 6-0, most probably going to jump to #3 or #4 in the polls. #2 Auburn lost, #3 USC simply doesn't look that impressive and #4 West Virginia plays nobody. On the other hand, Michigan has played 4 straight tough teams and beaten all of them by an average of 20 points.

Next week's trip to Happy Valley and our game vs Iowa will determine the sort of season we will have. Penn State hasn't looked impressive lately, but we are playing them at Happy Valley and Michigan has now won 7 straight vs PSU, so you can expect a very intense game.

I can't hear anything.

Michgan must be ranked #2. Fla, USC, and WVU have nothing on us.

it better be ranked #2. #6 blows.

Florida handled #9 LSU today...how do we move ahead of them for beating Michigan State?

Agreed... but Alexandre is dead on in that West Virginia has played NOBODY and that USC looks pretty average. They almost lost to unranked Washington and Washington St. in consecutive weeks.

Florida dominated the second half...true enough, but LSU lost the first half by making stupid TOs. We could totally beat Fla though.

I don't see us leaping past Florida. Beating a top 10 team is an achievement, and since Forida was ranked ahead of us going into that victory vs a top 10 team, I cannot imagine us leaping past them yet. However, Notre Dame is looking impressive and we destroyed them in South Bend. West Virginia and USC have yet to impress and Auburn lost. Those three teams should, in theory, be ranked behind us. Will Michigan leap over Auburn, USC and West Virginia in today's poll? Probably not. My guess is we'll be ranked #4. However, if we can maintain this level of play over the next 2 weeks, we will be ranked #2 come October 22, regardless of how the teams ahead of us do. Wouldn't be interesting if we could have a #1 vs #2 showdown with OSU on November 18th?

That would be interesting, but i'd still feel better if OSU loses to someone before they play us (with us still being undefeated).

i think florida stays ahead of us until the osu game.....its in mich's hands....we win out......hello Glendale!

If we win out we are number 1 or 2 without a doubt.

well we're #4 for now

Florida will have to play Auburn and Georgia and then Florida State for the season finale. If they stay unfeated, they deserve to be #2. Likewise USC will have to play Oregon, California and Notre Dame in a roll. What bothers me is we always have teams like West Virgina which is virtually untested and yet received lofty voting. And if they get lucky and get past Louisville, they can cruise along all the way to a BCS bowl. Sometimes I wonder if the voters bother to check out the games before casting their ballots. There is no way West Virgina still ranks ahead of us in the Coach's bowl.

We need Penn State, Iowa and Ohio State to stay winning until we meet them. There is the only sure way to stay

Things could get very interesting if Florida, USC and OSU/Michigan go undefeated. It really depends on how OSU and Michigan do from here on out. If both are 11-0 and ranked among the top 3 when they meet on the 18th of November, the winner of that game will definitely go to the Fiesta Bowl, regardless. I think USC, if they manage to beat a one-loss Notre Dame, will also make it. Unfortunately for Florida, they could finish undefeated and still be left out of the big game because Auburn and FSU simply aren't that good this year, so they won't have the opportunity to play a top 5 team to prove their worth. Right now, FSU is unranked, Georgia is having an average season and Auburn is the only team in the SEC West (Florida is part of the SEC East) capable of doing anything, but Arkansas destroyed their run. West Virginia simply doesn't have a worthy schedule. In the end, I think if USC and the winner of the Michigan vs OSU game are undefeated, they will end up #1 and #2 in the BCS poll.

alexandre I dont understand how FSU is in this arguement

FSU is in the arguement because undefeated teams like Florida, Michigan, OSU, West Virginia and USC need to win BIG games against highly regarded foes in order to make a strong case for #1 and #2 consideration. Only those two teams can play in the National Title game.

Florida's only hope for an impressive win would have been over a highly ranked FSU or Auburn team, but neither will be ranked that high because of their losses.

West Virginia doesn't have any hope either.

USC will most likely be ending their season vs a 10-1, top 5 Notre Dame team and Michigan and OSU could well be ranked #1 and #2 when they play each other on the 18th of November. If USC and the winner of the OSU vs Michigan game manage to finish undefeated, they will play each other at the Fiesta.

The Big East is a joke. Either Syracuse or Louisville will go undefeated from this conference.

USC is overrated, they will take a loss in one of their next three games (Oregon, Cal, ND)

Florida can probably win out.

OSU will be undefeated going into the Michigan-OSU game. We still have to worry about Penn State and Iowa. But if we lose one of those games, we'll probably lose to OSU as well.

Either OSU or Michigan will make the national championship. The other team is hard to say because there are a couple teams that could win out with their easy schedules.

Ahem, RUTGERS FTW!

mich jumped over WVU and is #4 now

Florida just beat LSU!
They have one of the toughest schedules in the country!
If they win out they are in teh National Title game no doubt..... we d ont have to worry bout USC... they will loose no doubt.... and if we beat OSU..were in too.........Its in our hands
