holyoke vs wm and mary

My niece deposited at Holyoke but just got in from the waitlist at W&M. She's a VA resident, so financially W&M is better. on the other hand Holyoke offerred $$ and she's feeling a bit like Holyoke really wants her and W&M got around to her.
Any comparisons or just thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

While both schools are comparable, the fact that she’s a VA resident and W&M is offering her money is a plus factor.

I graduated from Mount Holyoke many years ago and remain actively involved with the College. I would not give up my four years at Mount Holyoke for any amount of money. If the student who is weighing Mount Holyoke against William & Mary thinks critically about the choice, the difference in what your family will pay for an education at Mount Holyoke in comparison to in-state tuition at William & Mary will be vastly outweighed by the phenomenal, quality education you will receive at Mount Holyoke which is really a world-class college with an international student body. You will make life long friends at Mount Holyoke with students and faculty. Your classmates will become important (one of my classmates was the federal judge who signed the search warrant for the home of the Times Square bomber last week).

I also graduated from MHC years ago and completely agree with dc20016

My daughter is a MHC grad and my son recently graduated from NYU. In my opinion, the education my daughter received at MHC was far superior to what my son experienced at NYU.
They both enjoyed their time at their respective schools-obviously more to do in NYC. But as far as the education-no comparison.

My daughter is graduating this year from Mount Holyoke. She has had a wonderful education as well as outstanding academic, international internship, and other “resume building” opportunities. In addition, she has loved the close knit community. While I can’t give a comparison to William and Mary, I can speak most highly of Mount Holyoke. It has certainly been worth the investment.

Do you want to go to an all-girls school or coed? Do you like snowy winters or milder sunny weather? Is $$ an issue? Answer these questions and you will have the best answer for you. Both are great schools.

She decided to go with Wm and Mary, but thanks for everyone’s help.
