Home Tutoring

I recently suffered an injury at school, and because of that injury my doctor has seen fit that I be pulled out of the traditional schooling and recieve home tutoring. Has anyone ever had home tutoring? Or does anyone know if its good or not?

My friend did. She had to be homeschooled because of her illness. Erm... it depends on what teachers you get?

I just found out my home tutor is my old history teacher. We got along great, and I always had a 100% in her class. So I'm hoping it will work out well with her.

you miss the social aspects of it...

I was tutored in a bunch of stuff (calculus, chemistry, physics, English) when I was 10 or so. I got very little out of it, probably because I wasn't paying much attention and my parents kind of forced me into it. But that probably won't be an issue for you. How much you get out of it really depends on how motivated you are to study the subject in between sessions, do extra work, etc. Think of it as you teaching yourself and the tutor just helping you learn (which is really how you should think even when you're at school, but it's especially critical here). And it helps if there's some specific goal at the end, like an AP test you need to prepare for.

Also, it was pretty expensive ($30-$60/hour for me).

for me its pretty frustrating. the way home tutoring works at my school is that apparently the tutor just brings you the work you're missing, so I'm not learning. Also I am missing the social life I had while I was able to attend school, since most of my friends have decided to distance themselves from me since I can't be in school. I am hoping though that my teacher's will begin to send more work and the tutor will be able to help me learn something, escpecially in Latin.

That sucks. My friend Cheryl's home tutoring teachs actually tried to teach her things. Except she just didn't understand (they're just bad teachers lolz). And it was a service from our school because her condition just didn't allow her to come to school.
