Honest Feedback Please - Chance Me NYU

So, I am currently a junior from Indiana who is freaking out about getting into a good school. I would really love to attend NYU, which is my top choice, but I am also really interested in Northwestern, UChicago, Barnard, Columbia, Harvard (although I don’t think it possible), and then I have some other safety schools. Basically, I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA which should go up because my grades are high right now, a 28 baseline on the ACT (I just took it again Saturday), a 1400 SAT (retaking in Dec.).
Extracurriculars:
Speech and Debate- 3yrs- state distinction, hopefully nationals this year
Editor and Chief of Newspaper (one of the best in the country)-3yrs (one as EIC)
DECA-2 years
Student Government- 2 years
Class Executive Council- 1 year
Civics Club- One year (hope to be officer next year)
Varsity Softball- 2 years, quit HS this year for newspaper
Club Softball- 7ish years
I am working currently to start a community service project with a friend

I also took a class at Uchicago over the summer and got an A in it. Also my HS is considered pretty competitive.

If I keep up what I am doing and get around a 33 on the ACT, do you think I will get into NYU or any other schools named? Any other schools I should consider? (want urban environment) I want to study Public Policy/ Political Science or Journalism. Thank you

@mgb1111 . Your grades are on the right track. You didn’t mention how many APs will be on your transcripts.
28 on the ACT won’t cut it, you’ll need the 33 that you’re aiming for. However SAT may be a better suited test for you. You’ve already got a 1400, perhaps you can put in the effort to get to 1500.

I took AP Art History-4; taking Psych, Lit, Bio, US History this year; Stats, gov, econ, lang next year

Try American. Great poli sci, journalism internships.

First of all, you will get into a good school. There are literally 100’s of good schools. Not just the 50 talked about on CC. If you get a 33, you should be competitive at NYU. The competitive HS + UChicago class tells me you are likely from a upper middle class family (it is a guess however). Have you run the NPC at these schools? The ones on your list give very little/no merit aid. If your family income is in the 150-300k range, these schools can be very pricey.
