Honest Opinion on my Chances Out of State. I Can Hardly Take the Nerves Anymore.

Out of state at one of the best high schools in the state (I've heard UNC considers it the top in the city where I live).
SAT: 2210 (CR: 720, Math: 730, Writing: 760)
SAT II: Math II 700, US History 720
GPA: 3.8
One AP (score: 4)/One Honors Class Taken Sophomore Year
Two AP(scores: 3, 5)/One Honors Junior/Senior Year
Extra-Curriculars are mediocre with sports and a few volunteering opportunities.
Showed interest by visiting campus and applying EA.
English teacher and parents both think my UNC supplemental essay is very, very good.

I applied EA in state, and you have better academic stats than me–seriously, that’s a solid SAT score. Out of state admission, as you know, is always more competitive, but I think you have as good a shot as your fellow applicants! I don’t know if you turned your app in, but I would highlight what few volunteer opps you had since UNC is really into service. Good luck–I hope everything works out!

Yup turned in my app (I had to because I applied EA). I had a couple main volunteer things I have done with sports being the other main extra curricular for me. I also have worked almost every summer of high school, so I added that as well. I’m just praying at this point.

You definitely have a good shot at acceptance. One of my children was accepted last year, for fall freshman year, with a lower GPA and SAT not close to your score (great job!), and “ditto” on the sports and EC, maybe one more AP than you, and not a minority, was OOS, did visit campus and applied EA…the essay, which I read after the fact, was unbelievably amazing as were the teacher recommendations. Best of luck.

Okay, thanks for the replies everybody. I checked on Parchment, and it says I have less than a 30% shot of getting in, so I guess I just have to say my prayers!!!
