I have been obsessed with USC since 8th grade but am starting to doubt my chance of getting in. I don’t like these kinds of posts, but please read my basic information below. I am VERY aware that there is much more to my application (essays, rec letters, interest, etc.) but hopefully this information can give you an idea of who I am:
SAT: 1380 out of 1600,
SAT Superscore: 1420 out of 1600
UW GPA: 3.91 out of 4.00
W GPA: 4.25 out of 5.00
of AP Classes by Graduation: 9 or 10
Type of School/Rigor:
- Freshman Year (Public School): Took 1/1 available AP classes, took 3/5 honors classes available
- Sophomore Year (Online School): Took 2 AP classes
- Junior Year (Online School): Took 4 AP classes
(My online school offers around 25 AP classes and all other classes are “on-level”)
I started online school due to health issues which are now resolved and I will either graduate from online school or go back to public school for senior year.
EC’s:
- 10 years rec soccer, 4 years club soccer (no leadership positions available, not state-ranked, not looking to play in college, just average club player but still large passion of mine)
- Began the school newspaper at my online school
- Coaching job for 3 years (leadership position)
- Raised around $5,000 for philanthropic organization on my own
- 4 consecutive years of a mission trip to Guatemala (basic I know)
- Volunteer tutor for Guatemalan refugee children in Atlanta (1 hr/week for 2 years)
- Ran a marathon
(If this matters at all):
Race: White
Gender: Female
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Family Income Level: Above $200,000
I have spent the past three years learning everything about USC and picturing myself there, but I honestly have started to feel like I am wasting my time. I thought I had an average shot but now I am not sure. Can anyone with knowledge of USC or similar schools PLEASE give me their honest opinion and DO NOT SUGARCOAT? Do I have an average chance? Low chance? Basically zero chance?
I still do have time to improve my extracurriculars and SAT, but I do not think scoring above a 1500 or becoming a nationally-recognized scholar/athlete is realistic for me in the time I have left before admissions (I’m a second-semester junior).
