As a Texan, I'm about 95% sure that you are exactly what UT is looking for. Even though the automatic acceptance for top 10% only counts for Texas students, they do love any out of state student who can claim the same. I don't know if that was the reason that I got in there, but I did, with far less EC's and similar SAT/ACT scores.

Good luck!

You definitely have a shot at UT, as you are their textbook student (in a good way) just OOS. Also have a good chance at UIUC, because you are a qualified applicant there as well. Just send your ACT instead of SAT I

Yeah, that's what I did.

Bump. Thanks.

Friendly bump.

I got into UIUC with less so I'd think you have about 80%+ chance of getting in

In at both.

You can do better than both of those places.

Unless he wants to study Chemical Engineering, where both schools are in the top 10 undergrad programs

^^ exactly. Depending which program you want to get into.
I can only speak for UIUC: if you're going for the engineering school, it might be a tough. I know quite a few who have gotten in, but with better scores, better ec's. LAC? you're definitely in. Just make sure you actually wrote a coherent essay. I know someone whose scores/grades were above average, but was deferred b/c he didn't take his essays too seriously. BIG MISTAKE.

I also can only speak for UIUC and agree with ticktock: if you're applying for engineering or even business, you may have some troubles. I have a friend who was flat out denied from UIUC's business school though he had a 34 ACT. His problem was a few C's on his transcript. But you've definitely got a good shot!

Best of luck!

I fear that my essays for UIUC were not very good. They are decent, but nothing as good compared to my UT essays.

Btw, I'm majoring in chemistry.

One last bump...

Well i would say you're defiitely in at UT. UIUC would be a reach. but since you said your essays were not very good a couple posts up, im gonna have to dip your chance of getting in there to about 30-40%.

Still man your looking good and good luckk....

also just to return the favor, do you think you can http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/639524-chance-uc-berkeley-eng-cornell-eng-even-stanford-will-chance-back.html????

Update: My brilliant friend (has 35 on ACT), who sent his UT app several days after I did, recently was accepted. I'm really worried that I've been rejected. Any insight?
