I’m considering doing research at BYU over the summer, and I’m curious about just how strict the honor code is. I’m an undergrad girl from a public university in the east and don’t follow a religion, so I’m not familiar with Mormon culture. Is the dress code enforced, even during the hot summer? Also, how seriously do students follow it? Is the code also in place in off-campus housing or even around the town?
I’d be respectful of students there who do choose to follow it, but is it considered offensive if you walk around in July with, say, shorts and a tank top? Or wearing a bikini at the pool? (Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I’m genuinely curious)
. Is the dress code enforced, even during the hot summer? Yes
Also, how seriously do students follow it? It really depends of the person, you will find people who follow it (but does it in closed spaces) and people who does not but most of all the student do follow the honor code strictly.
Is the code also in place in off-campus housing or even around the town? BYU students are required to follow the honor code as a lifestyle. So, many people will do so even if they are around the town.
ut is it considered offensive if you walk around in July with, say, shorts and a tank top? it is not offensive, but you should follow what the dress code says about it.
Or wearing a bikini at the pool? bikinis are not allowed at BYU approved housing swimming pools .
