Honor Societies in College? Can someone please help me?!?

Hi,

I attend Georgia State University as a transfer student but am considering another transfer. I got this letter in the mail about Tau Sigma National Transfer Honor Society. I looked it up and it seems to have chapters at other schools in the country, but not at any of the schools I am trying to transfer to.

The problem is, they want $45.00 from me, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to join. The only thing I would really want it for is to put it on my resume. Anyone had any experience with the organization or can tell me if it's worth it?

Also, what about the National Society of Collegiate Scholars?

Any insight would be helpful!

Thanks.

It really depends...If you want to get really involved, then National Society of collegiate scholars is a great society...they always organize fun events and also do lot of community service like beach cleanups, mentoring
etc...they are a honor society and thus having it on your resume will not hurt your chances but would enhance it....

I got a letter from our NCSC chapter too, and will probably sign up just for the heck of it. Like pepsi said, it can't hurt you. The most important thing isn't how many activities, or what kinds per se, but how involved you were.

Thanks for the comments and advice everyone. I think I will go ahead and join NSCS!
