Honors and Engineering..

Question: is it worth it to participate in the Honors College if you are an Engineering major? DS will not be living in Middlebrook -- he prefers the Taylor House LLC.

First let me say that all the kids in Science and Engineering are extremely bright. From a practical perspective, I would guess one of the most valuable benefits is the extra attention given by the Honor’s advising. Mrs. Anderegg is an absolute jewel and is very dedicated to the kids…her son in law will be their upper division engineering advisor :stuck_out_tongue:

They have weekly study groups for the Honor’s calc and physics courses. These are physically held at Middlebrook. Both Middlebrook and Taylor House would surround your son with a great group of friends…I suppose the main difference is that Middlebrook would provide a more diverse group of interests and be full of the kids who are in your honors courses (2 per semester) Both sound like strong choices. I think my son was surprised that he didn’t have more “engineering” courses first year, so Tay lor House might be a way for your son to get excited about the program by surrounding himself with like minded kids.
