Honors Application Formatting Errors

The essays part doesn't accept any newlines for me. All my paragraphs are joined as one and the resume is a total mess... lol. Is anyone else facing this problem? Admissions said they hadn't received word about this from anyone else.

You might try putting it in plain text or in a non-proportionally spaced font that is not a "True Type" font (Courier but not True Type Courier).

I think "Postscript" type fonts might work better than True Type fonts. But I might be wrong - we solved this more by trial and error than by a deep understanding of fonts.

If you can get the essay to save on the screen and it is all good except for the carriage returns at the end of each paragraph, just add those on the screen and save it right there in the application.

By putzing with the font or the file format or the carriage returns (I don't remember which and I might be confusing this with another college application, sorry about that), I know that my daughter was able to get this to work for the essay, but it was hopeless for her resume - as you say, a total mess. She sent the resume through U.S. mail.

Yeah, I'll probably send the resume by mail too. Thanks for the suggestions!

type it up on notepad before pasting it in. i think i remember this problem.

and if you decide to change something change it on the original then re copy paste it in. dont change on the screen.

We had this very same problem last night. Gave up and will mail the resume in via snail mail. The Texas Common Application changed this year, because it was even worse regarding formatting problems last year. I have to say, of all the applications done this year, though, UT Austin's system is the most ridiculous.
