Hey all,
I was recently accepted to Honors at NEU, and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten about the perks of being in the honors program. It looks like there is a special LLC for honors, and resident honors faculty, as well as honors seminars, but beyond this I did not see anything else.
I know that at many honors programs, honors students get priority in class enrollment. Is this true at Northeastern and are there other similar perks?
Many thanks!
The honors LLC goes beyond simply being in a group together: International Villiage is by far the nicest freshman residence, so that should be underlined again. They also have some of the nicest 2nd year and onward housing available as well in West Villiage C and F.
A lot of basic lower level classes and introductory classes for many majors offer Honors only sessions. You have to take a certain amount of these to graduate with honors, in addition to an intro honors course. These courses are usually smaller class sizes and include some more work.
Honors students don’t get any priority registration for classes.
The program has its perks, but I think it makes sure that it isn’t significantly above the rest of the school.
PengsPhils pretty much hit it dead on. I’ll add that there are $750/semester introductory research assistant positions geared towards freshmen/sophomores that are honors-only
Okay thanks for the info guys. You told me what I wanted to know.
