Honors Carolina/Scholarship Day for RD Applicants

I applied RD to UNC-CH and recently got an email inviting me to Scholarship Day in March. But from what I can tell, it’s only for accepted students (which I haven’t been due to RD). Was this a mistake by UNC or is the Scholarship Day in March really for RD applicants? Thanks!

I’m RD and was invited too. Definitely planning on attending

Being invited to Scholarship Day means you have been accepted. Congratulations!

Congratulations @elle3211 and aLilac! When did you get your email notification? When is the Scholarship Day in March?

Congratulations to both of you! Definitely recommend going to Scholarship Day - it was an exciting experience.

Thank you!! @CoMoMom I got my email notification yesterday. And I believe Scholarship Day is March 20th.
@betatech‌ Do you know what this means about Honors Carolina? Are you automatically in if you are invited to Scholarship Day?

I also applied RD, but I didn’t receive an e-mail. Are you in-state or OOS?

Well, looks like I didn’t get in.

@eldubbu‌ I’m in-state.

are the emails staggered??

So I assume if my DD has not receive an email she has not been invited to Scholarship day. Would you all agree?

I’m assuming that if you haven’t received an e-mail yet, then the applicant isn’t invited. However, this does not mean that the applicant is denied admission to the university, correct?

All in all, congratulations to @elle3221‌ and @aLilac‌ for getting invited!

Correct. Very few are invited to Scholarship Day.

so is there a chance you could still get a scholarship even though you aren’t invited?? are invited students mostly instate? @noname87

For my daughter’s EA years, there were quite a few OOS. Someone posted that they got a small scholarship but were not invited to Scholarship Day. No idea if that is true. UNC gives very few scholarships.

My D, who is a senior this year, received a merit scholarship from UNC. She was not invited to Scholarship Day and still received $2500 a year for 4 years. She was not the only one either. Two of her friends received the same deal.

@unc1957 what was the timing of your daughters notification of her $2500 scholarship?

Was it offered before or after she committed?

@Joe2015, she received notification before she committed. She was waiting to hear from other universities and colleges, so had not made a final decision. We are NC residents, and I think that UNC offers small merit scholarships to keep strong NC students in-state. She was also invited to the Honors Program and received the Excel email at the time.

Thanks for the info @unc1957. I was hoping that was the timing.
