I am currently a sophomore taking honors chem, and taking AP Chem and honors physics next year. How much harder is AP Chem than Honors Chem? My final grade in Honors Chem will be an 85

Honors Chemistry means different things at different schools, so it’s impossible to say how much harder AP is than Honors unless we know your school. I would ask the teacher or students at your school who have taken both.

Honors if you want to chillax, AP if you want to be the system’s b*tch.

Definitely ask people who’ve taken both.

At my school, it’s pretty much this:
Honors Chem: LOL whatajoke
AP Chem: fmlfmlfml this might tank my GPA

This is how it went down for me:

Honors Chemistry 1: Hm, this isn’t bad. I think I like chemistry Yay mole day!

Honors Chemistry 2: Hm, not bad. Not bad. Stressed a few times, but at least I made it to a B+ (: Phew!

AP Chemistry: F&$#% this. I hate this class. I hate this class. I hate this class. Arksdfkpkgghhfhf;jhj. (Okay, maybe a bit too hateful, but the grades I get in this class are awful 70%of the time. It made me not like chemistry as much anymore sadly :()

But, this is just me. You might be a different case and might end up loving it as the material gets harder. Who knows? Go take it if you’d like because every school, class, and teachers are different. In Chem 2 I had the same teacher for AP, so the teacher wasn’t the problem.

Honestly AP Chemistry is the hardest class i’ve ever taken, but I did it as a sophomore with no past experience with chemistry and still did well. If you have a good teacher it isn’t too bad.

If you don’t like chemistry though, do not take the course. My buddy hated Chem and did horribly…
