Honors classes as a freshman ?

I signed up for physics h7a, but I heard from a friend that it is very rare and dumb to do this as a freshman because it's crazy hard.

Can anyone shed some light on this (honor classes in general)? If I'm going to drop it back to regular physics, I should prob do it soon because classes are filling up.

…has your friend taken physics at all? Physics H7A is taken pretty much only by freshmen (though sophs and above are still welcome to take it).

Anyway, I would recommend doing it. The class is harder than regular 7A, but a higher proportion of the H7A class ends up with an A or B. And plus, you learn a lot more interesting stuff (from what I can tell…I only took regular 7A, but I did take H7B and found it to be a pretty good class). You could check out some old H7A exams to gauge their difficulty…just google physics h7a or something.

lol i looked at past exams for h7a… ha… it looks pretty advanced.

Do it only if you’re really into physics/you’re really good at it…otherwise I don’t see the point. The average grade is slightly higher than regular physics, but you would think the competition is tougher too.

Don’t phase 1 physics h7a, theres no way that class is going to fill up.

edit: Have taken physics in high school? If you feel you have a good handle on physics then you should consider taking H7A or take 7A with Boggs as his exams are pretty hard.

i already took this course at a CC, but forgot everything because it was junior year in hs

i read on ratemyprofessors that the prof curves very generously to make up for the course difficulty and it looks like half the class gets A/A+

You need to be:

 1. Passionate about physics
 2. Extremely good at both physics and math

To take this course. If you aren’t both #1 and #2, don’t take it.
