Honors classes?

Can anyone enroll in honors classes? I'm in EECS, and I would like to know what the difference is between a prerequisite class like Physics 7B and Physics H7B. Can anyone take either one, and if so is there much benefit to taking honors courses?

Anyone can take either one. The benefit is mainly in what you learn. It's also a smaller class with very high-caliber fellow students. H7B uses a different textbook and is much more advanced. Do a Google search on H7A/H7B/H7C you'll see some course websites with detailed information.

Really, the Honros sequence is designed for future physics majors. It goes beyond what is required for EECS, I would imagine.

How do you get a chance to take the honor class?

Do they have honors classes for all majors?

You just sign up for the honors class.

I only know about math and physics having honors classes. Sometimes there are harder tracks, like econ 101A is harder than econ 100A, that kind of thing.

If you're in EECS, there's little point to taking the honors Physics 7 classes unless you're very interested in the subject.

The regular Physics 7 classes are already rigorous enough, and alongside your EECS technical courses, you really don't need to make things harder for yourself.

I don't know; the homework system that they subject Physics 7 series students to, really makes me want to do the extra Honors work sometimes...

Is there a gpa boost of any kind taking honors courses like there is in high school?

If you're taking an honours class at Berkeley, you're doing it because of a love for the subject and a desire to explore it in greater depth. The grade you get in the class is secondary. There's no gpa boost of any sort, although it does appear on your transcript listed as the honours variant.
