What are the advantages of taking honors vs non-honors classes at Kelley?
What do YOU think the advantages are?
classes are MUCH smaller, best professors for those subjects (this is a big one), smarter peer group as a whole in honors classes, classes are more discussion-based some of the time, tests are not weighed as heavily into your grade (usually there are additional papers, projects, presentations, etc. but this makes it so that tests are not weighed as heavily into your grade)
many honors classes have a higher grade distribution, but this doesn’t necessarily mean the classes are easier (just that the students are more motivation to try harder for high grades). however, several of the honors classes are not necessarily harder per se.
i’ve had nothing but positive experiences in my honors classes (i have taken 3 so far, 2 honors business classes and one through hutton)
I agree with everything gleek96 said, but the reason behind my question is that those aren’t advantages for everyone. If you’re someone who just wants to go to class, take notes, and go home then Honors classes (and Kelley Honors) may not be for you. They require you to be much more proactive in your education.
gleek96 and hkem123, how do you get in to honors kelley? I am a direct admit and part of hutton honors. What are some things that I should do to get into honors, thank you.
@taikang96 Google “Kelley Business Honors Program” for details. Key requirements are minimum of 3.7 GPA at end of freshman year, strong faculty recommendations and demonstrated leadership at IU. As soon as you arrive on campus join a club or two that interests you and take on a leadership role. Even with a 4.0 and great recs you won’t get into Kelley Honors without demonstrated leadership.
Okay so just to clarify - Freshman Fall Semester one could not take Computer in Business - Honors BUS - K - 204 because you need to be in the Kelley Business Honors Program, not just a direct admit?
That is not the case. You can take K204 if you are in the Hutton Honors Program.
The course browser is stating Must be a Business Honors Program student or Honors College student. Please advise.
just reread your response ace550. one must be in honors program in order to take K204. Direct admits cannot, correct?
Correct, Direct Admits who are not in Hutton cannot take K204.
