Honors Classes

I understand that the benefits to the honors’ classes are smaller class size and taught by a full professor. Are the classes harder or is there additional work? If you were a pre-med student, what classes would you recommend that a student take in honors?

My daughter is a freshman studying Bio-medical Sciences at Auburn. She took Chemistry 1 and now Chemistry 2 Honors. Absolutely loves the professor. She works hard but finds the course to be very interesting. She was especially grateful that she took the honors level when she saw one of her roommate’s, who was taking the regular level Chemistry, lab assignments. My daughter said it was really basic, something she could do in her sleep.

She did want to also take Honors Calculus 1st semester but her advisor was concerned with a freshman taking two honors classes 1st semester of freshman year. So she didn’t and I think she regrets not taking the Honors Calculus in addition to Honors Chemistry because she found reg Calculus too easy. Next year she is taking honors Theater, because it is supposed to be pretty easy and she will need an easy class with Organic Chemistry, Physics, World Lit, Genetics and who knows what other sciences classes.
