I know that students in the Honors College are required to take at least 30 hours of honors classes and that the Croft Institute has its own curriculum requirements, but how many hours do students typically take? I’ve been trying to figure out what my schedule would be like as a member of Honors and Croft. Would most of my classes be Honors or Croft, or would I still take a significant number of larger classes? Do students struggle to get into the honors classes they want?
You’re right about the 30 hours. Many Honors students end up with more than that. Kids in Honors get priority registration so they sign up for classes earlier than most other students. So, you shouldn’t have a problem with class registration if you stay on top of things. The number of hours averages about 15-17 hours per semester. You get to choose which classes you take as Honors so it’s somewhat flexible. You’ll have advisors in both Honors and Croft to help you each semester so they will keep you on track. Some of your Croft courses will also count as Honors.
