@2020vision2025 Congrats to your daughter! We don’t know many other Math majors. We’re visiting all of his admitted schools so hopefully he’ll have a decision by Easter! It’s a long process…
Hello @Hopeful1088, dropping by with DS another Math major!
@inktopaper There is no application for Provost, you just have to declare USC as your first choice school through the National Merit portal. As far as I was told, National Merit does not send out the names of finalists to the schools until March. So, USC cannot offer the scholarship until they receive that list.
Are the Capstone dorms the same as Honors Dorms?
@sandstorm42 That makes sense. We plan to call just in case.
No, Capstone is a different dorm (but its a great program). You can see all the housing options at the following link

my daughter got offered 3K in merit. She was an early admit to the Honors college (but not invited to Top Scholars) and we are in-state…we were not terribly impressed to be honest. UGA is still her 1st choice, though much more expensive for us.
I called Admissions earlier today to inquire about the award levels. They said there is no appealing merit and that this year they had their most competitive applicant pool.
Same situation for us. In state son with first wave honors, no top scholars and only offered $3k with a 1500 SAT. Based on last year we were expecting more
same here…my daughter has a 34 ACT and is ranked 5/390
3K is not really cutting it for us
This can’t be all of the merit money. My son is a NMF with USC listed as his first choice, and he didn’t get provost. I’m thinking there will be more in mid March when all of the financial aid is released.
@MelSpears My son also qualifies for the Provost and it was not included.
@inktopaper, hopefully that means that there is more merit to come. Fingers crossed.
What were you expecting based on last year? Has he/she applied for departmental and other honors scholarships that were emailed out last week?
Provost cannot be added until they get their list from the NMC in March. But it will be!
Yes, it will be included later this month if he lists USC as his first choice!
@Losingmymind4 yes, my son has put in the departmental application, and is working on the honors college scholarships that fit him.
may i ask where you find the honors scholarships? my daughter did not get an email for those.
He received an email on 2/24. I’m going to try And post the link.

@UpstateSCmom, I think he said they are due by 3/8.
