Honors College?

I got my acceptance letter a few days ago and then yesterday I received a letter inviting me to apply to the honors program.
Did anyone else get this?
Is this program particularly rigorous?
Do they offer more scholarship money for honors students?
I was planing on going premed, would I take some honors classes and some regular if accepted?
thanks!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Loyola University New Orleans!

Invitations to the Honors Program are mailed out to students who satisfy the minimum requirements of: SAT 1300 or ACT 29 with a 3.5 GPA.

Students in the Honors Program do not receive any additional scholarships for being in the program; but they do have great perks like the Honors Learning Community (a floor in Buddig Hall only for Honors students), the University Honors Center (a study center just for honors students), as well as getting to participate in excursions and events on and off campus.

The Honors Program is challenging. The focus is on interdisciplinary classes which teach critical thinking - a great asset for any pre-med student. The honors classes will substitute some of your Common Curriculum classes, not your pre-med classes. Students in the Honors Program are required to do a senior research or creative project under the direction of a faculty sponsor, and in the spring of their senior year are required to give a public presentation of their work.

Is it possible to apply to the Honors college after Freshman year?

Students enrolled at Loyola may apply for the Honors program after their first year. A 3.3 GPA is required for consideration.
