Honor's College

is it too late to submit an application?

I don’t know if different people got different deadlines but mine was January 17.

The deadline my son had was Jan 17. He decided not to do it. Just too burned out to write another essay.

Oh very understandable, it all becomes kind of meaningless at this point…you just feel like you are typing with no feelings behind it! Which is never a good way to go if you dont feel good about it. A common senioritis symptom im all too familiar with :)

I copied and pasted other essays I had from other applications. I don’t think I could have written a brand new, 1000 word essay.

Haha I do not blame you, I have luckily been able to do that with a few of my essays too! Have you officially decided on state?

I don’t remember the topic for the essay, but - from what DS told me - he didn’t have anything from his variety of already written essays that would work.

Kinda funny…yesterday he got a brochure about the honors college in the mail. Kinda useless since his deadline was this past Sunday!

Was it a terribly long application, what was it like?

Yeah I got a brochure just a few days before the deadline. The topic was essentially to tell how you are a good fit for the UHP, 1000 words. I basically evidenced my intellectual curiosity through summer activities and extracurriculars that I had already written about in other essays.

I’m not 100% on State yet, but it’s the only school on my list that I can really afford without financial aid (of which I am likely to get little). If I get the Park I’m definitely going.
