Honors courses?

If there is a class that has a honors section discussion amd you choose that section, will that count as an honors course? Like will it count towards the 8 honors courses underclassmen In the honors program need to complete? Thanks!:)

Yep! For example, Intro to Women’s Studies often has a honors only discussion. But they may have changed it, so I would double check. You can always email your adviser for a list of classes. In actuality, you don’t need to fulfill the 8 honors courses (not required, just strongly suggested) - the only reason you would is only if you’re considering the sophomore honors award.

okay thank you!! also, what makes the honors section more difficult? is it more quizzes and papers ?

Honors Womens Studies?

That made my day…

Some classes also count towards your 8 honors classes if you take them way ahead of time. Rule of thumb is junior classes (300 level) in your freshman year; senior (400) in your sophomore year - but there’s exceptions to that both ways, and if you’re interested, the honors advisers have that information in a binder somewhere.

Wow PurpleDuckMan, really? Actually, I can’t tell if you’re being completely and utterly sarcastic or genuinely enthusiastic. But yeah, like I said, they do offer an honors only discussion.

Collegebound - it depends. In some classes, the difference is barely distinguishable. But (at least) in this WS class I took, we had stricter requirements and a higher standard for assignments, contributing to discussions, etc. The quality of work and class expectations were generally much higher.
