Honors Dorm Questions

For those who have lived in the Honors dorm in University Heights North, what do you recommend bringing for the room?.

We own a mini-fridge, so he will bring that. He also has a little plastic set of drawers that he will bring. We have a smallish set of plastic shelves that we will probably bring as well either for use in the room or in the bathroom.

How about lighting? Did you want a floor lamp? Desk lamp? clip-on light for the bed?

Power strips and extension cords?

The UVM site says you cannot use command hooks -- what did you do about places to hang outerwear (rain jacket, winter jacket, etc.) and wet towels?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Also do the students have to supply their own cleaning supplies for the bathroom? Toilet paper?

they supply tp, you supply cleaning products. Lighting is good. there are towel racks in the rooms

They supply cleaning products as well (a green all-purpose product). Also for future reference, the room comes with a recycling bin but not a trash can. The kids use the bedposts (they go up high so you can loft the bed if you choose) as coat hanging places. There are towel racks in the bathroom, but not near the sink, which is outside the bathroom.

My daughter will be starting this yr. and at orientation a couple weeks ago I noticed her bed was in the middle of the rack so there was storage under the bed but also the legs extended up above her. There was no bunk over her but I was wondering if there was a way to make a shelf over her for storage. Like a bunk bed but with no other person, just storage bins.

@rumrunner she could raise her bed to the top of the posts to get more storage underneath. I think that would be safer than trying to build ad-hoc storage above her.
