Dorm Questions?

Hello! School starts in one week, ahh! I just have a few questions.

1) Are desk lamps provided in Towers B or will I have to buy my own?

2)How much can the beds be lifted off the floor? (I saw in a Pitt video that a drawer can fit underneath but I forget how tall the drawers are) If I buy those big plastic storage boxes could I stack like two and be fine?

3)Should I buy bed risers?

4)Should I buy a curtain rod for the closet? Could I hang my coats on the curtain rod if I buy one? I never really saw a place to hang coats.

Thanks!

Desk lights are fluorescent lamps attached to the bookshelves, so if you prefer a different type of light, you will want to bring it.

If I am remembering correctly, one of the big boxes fits, not two. You will not need bed risers because the bed can be set high.

Not sure about the curtain rod.

I bought one additional light for my room in Holland because it was a bit bigger and harder to light but you should be fine with the overhead light and the desk light attached to the hutch. You aren’t allowed to use additional bed risers anyways, but your bed can be lofted on any of 10 settings, the highest being just tall enough to fit the larger dresser underneath it. I also fit a small fridge (about 20 inches tall) with a microwave (about 12 inches) stacked on it underneath. I know there was some extra space above the microwave still but I’m not sure how much. For the closet, there is a rod and probably shelf in it already. Some people buy shower rods to put a curtain on so they can cover their closet but that’s it. As for coats, if you want to buy command hooks to put on the sides that’s the best idea.

No desk lamps. So you have to bring your own. The desk/hutch has a light attached.

DS was able to put a trunk under the bed and still had room between it and the bed. He did not use the highest setting on the bed.

Don’t need risers and I don’t think they are allowed.

Don’t believe you need a curtain rod. DS just hung his clothes off the shelving that was installed in the space. Some did have a curtain rod but it was used to hang a curtain (to cover the stuff they had in the closet).
