My D just attended the Distinguished Honors Scholar weekend at U of D 3/16/2013. She is waiting to hear about a possible scholarship. Do you know what is the minimum scholarship awarded to a Distinguished Honors Scholar? Thanks.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been on in awhile but I’d like to get to all of your questions!

Weaver-the honors program has many trips to plays or museums. I also know that during the fall they had a trip to go apple picking and little trips like that. I believe there are about 450 freshman in the honors program right now. Honors classes will definitely be smaller and more focused in your major once you move up. I would say there were a ton of factors that made me decide on Delaware such as the academics, the campus, the club sports, and the friendliness of the people I encountered. It was definitely the best decision I have made.

Murphy - I do know some nursing majors in honors, and I would not let her strength in math and science hold her back. There are a lot of engineering majors in honors who do just fine with the load of writing. Don’t let her get discouraged, honors is a great opportunity to strengthen her writing skills, and taking smaller classes. She should be proud to have gotten into honors, and if she is a hard worker then she will be fine, even if she does decide to do a lot of extracurriculars!

mrojas- You definitely do not need to drink to have fun at UD! There are some people in my building who enjoy going out on the weekends and drinking, but there are also a ton who find fun doing other things like going to the movies or bowling or just hanging out. Either way, everyone on my floor is very concerned with their academics, and we do not let a good time ever get in the way of academics.

nugget - unfortunately I do not know a lot about distinguished scholars, but that information should definitely be available online. Good luck to your D with that! Being a distinguished scholar is a huge honor!

Thanks for the info JerseyGirl
