I have been accepted to LSA undecided, but I know I want to go into business/ross.

Is it worth it to go to Honors for freshman year and apply to Ross? Or is it better to stick with regular LSA and apply as a regular student, not an honor's student?

Honors, sounds more challenging then regular, is it worth a few points off of your GPA and then apply to ross? (Is it a better chance for you when you apply to Ross since you would be in more challenging classes?

Or should I just stick with regular LSA and get a great GPA and apply to Ross?

Also, this question is regarding ROSS: I am not a preferred admit, but I read around CC and people stated that there is still a chance for a non-preferred admit to be accepted to ROSS for sophomore year. What do I need to do, as a nonpreferred admit, to appall the admissions officers at ROSS to accept me? Good GPA is a start, what else do they look for? What else should I do?

Most of the students admitted to Ross are not pre-admits, they are admitted after freshman year. If you were accepted to honors, then your chances of getting admitted to Ross after freshman year are decent.

I don’t think you should assume that your GPA will be higher outside of honors because the average grades in honors classes are often higher than non-honors classes. If you are interested in what honors has to offer, you should pursue it. If you are not interested in honors, I would forego it.

To appeal to the Ross admissions, take the required pre-reqs and a well balanced and challenging schedule and get a good GPA. It is little like LSA admissions - take the most challenging schedule that leaves you with a good GPA. Also look for extra-curricular opportunities that give you leadership opportunities - there are a lot of them.

@res ipsa, wow, thanks a lot! You really answered my questions.

Just a few more ;)

Honor students generally have higher GPA’s, I am more intrigued lol. What are the benefits of honors? I read something about Great Books with honors, can you tell me more about that?

Also, I am not good with college terminology and I have a feeling college class codes are going to make me confused. Can you tell me pre-req ROSS classes that are challenging/looks good for ROSS admissions?
This year I am taking AP gov’t (expecting a 3), AP Art History (expecting a 4-5), AP calculus BC(expecting under a 3).

Last question: How similar are extracirricular activities in college compared to EC’s in high school. I definitely want to be involved with a club or two regarding business. Possibly join a fraternity, which others should I look more into that will help for my admissions for ROSS? I really want to get into Ross!

I really appreciate your feedback. I’m lost in this college thing haha! Good Night from NY!

You don’t have to cap lock Ross. As in, please stop cap locking the word Ross. Thanks.

I wouldn’t assume you will get a higher GPA in honors; on the other hand, I wouldn’t assume it would be lower.

As for your questions on honors, there are a lot of good threads on this board on the topic. I would search for those and see what they have to say.

With respect to your questions on ROSS, you can check the ROSS website for information. [BBA - Stephen M. Ross School of Business](<a href=“Bachelor of Business Administration | Michigan Ross”>Bachelor of Business Administration | Michigan Ross)
I think you need to take ECON 101 and a CALC class.

There are a lot of organizations. You will find out more about it in the fall. I thiink it is more important to find an organization that you are interested in and will give you a chance for leaderhship involvement than one that looks good to ROSS. I question whether joining a fraternity will have much impact on a ROSS application unless you get involved in the leadership of the fraternity.

Good luck with getting in to ROSS. I like the cap lock thing. I will have to try it some more. ROSS ROSS ROSS

Hey Parth, you’re not going to make up extracurriculars for your Ross application like you did for your CommonApp one? That’s surprising…

Hey, how do you know if you are a pre-admit??? Is it stated anywhere in wolverine access?
