So I’ve already been accepted to the Honors program but I don’t really prefer Millennium Hall’s small rooms. I plan on being a studious kid at Drexel and I was wondering if the experience I get at Millennium would be different from other halls. It would be nice to have roommates who take the same classes so there’s someone to help and talk to so would this be possible even in other halls? (That being said, I’ve only toured 3 halls and my favorite so far is Race, what other halls are good and why?)
I can offer maybe some insight based on my experience in a learning community from another University (Purdue to be exact). I was an engineering student who ended up in the business learning Hall my freshmen year. Like how Millenium Hall would be filled with Honors students, the Business Learning Hall was all freshmen business majors. They all helped each other with classes all the time, the ones that got along and had stuff in common outside of business ended becoming close friends and forming a solid support network for themselves. They all knew each others names and they could always find people to go to dinner/lunch with study with or get advice from. Their experiences compared to that of other students who ended up in general halls were way less stressful and they were able to more easily secure a place for themselves in college life that they enjoyed. They were home sick far less than other students and were way more enthusiastic about the school than most other students.
At the same time, it helps to live somewhere you will feel comfortable with. Living somewhere that makes you feel cramped/pressured can cause depression. I have heard Millennium is one of the nicer Halls. However, I haven’t seen them yet since I am transferring into Drexel next year and will be living off campus.
