I am currently a junior who is scheduling for next year’s courses. I have come down to these classes, and I’m stuck between Latin (Honors) and Physics 2. I’m interested in pursuing behavioral economics in college.
Pros of Latin IV:
-4 years of a language
-It’s significantly easier than any other course, perhaps the only truly easy A+ course I’ve ever encountered
-My teacher said it runs as a comparative literature course --> could benefit me in the social sciences a little
Pros of Physics 2:
-Heavy math (maybe)
-Could possibly be more relevant because of the fact it involves math, again I’m not sure
-6 APs senior year instead of 5
My current schedule for next year is the following:
AP Literature
AP Calc
AP Stats
AP Biology
AP Gov
Latin IV Honors**
Why dont you take AP Physics and Latin and skip the Stats?. And I’d choose between AP Bio and AP Physics and give your self a free period to write college applications, do homework, sleep and take care of all the other things you have to do to in order to complete your applications to colleges .
You already have a math class and college admissions officers know that AP Stats is an “easy” AP. Taking it won’t “impress” them.
Taking Latin and AP Physics instead gives you a much more “impressive” schedule.
And that way you will have 4 years of FL, which many top tier colleges REALLY want to see.
Replace AP stats -which is an ‘AP lite’ for good students who can’t/won’t take calculus - with AP physics. Taking both AP physics and AP bio is a bit much though. Cross one out and take a ‘fun’ class. It’ll come in handy when you prepare your college applications. Could you choose one and replace it with something just for learning’s sake? What about taking an art class?
