Honors on the Common App?

It clearly says “academic distinctions or honors”, though, so wouldn’t community service awards not count?

yeah im confused about that too…
for musical stuff, would solo & ensemble awards count & lettering in orchestra? what about little scholarship things I’ve won? Idk. :P

Is AP w/ Distinction a national award?

Does your school have student of the month? Have you recieved any awards or distinctions through school clubs?

I was a finalist in the sophomore speech contest at my school. Is that an honor?

I’d like to know also if AP awards count as national.

I don’t see the point of listing average awards like AP Scholar and National Honor Societies when they will just be listed on your transcript by your school anyway.

I’m an international student and my school goes up to grade 13 (sixth form), should I put Post grad, or leave it blank?

I had NHS, national latin exam, high honor roll, etc

Would competition awards count? Things like debate tournaments. What about club officer recognition if it is on a district level?

Debate and speech awards do count as honors/awards and can certainly be noted in that section.

any award that you have won or societies, basically

Does governor’s school certificate of completion go here? Also if I have more than 5 awards, how do I determine which ones should be represented here?

What are things like National Hispanic Scholar awards designated as? National Merit Scholar awards seem to increase up in recognition as people are weeded out, leaving National as the final level for National Merit Scholars. But the NHRP is just a one-time selection. Since you’re still selected from the entire nation’s worth of Hispanic PSAT takers, should it be National as well? Or since each state has different requirements, should it be a State-level honor?

My country does not have distinctions such as AP Scholar, National Honor Society, National Merit or any of those you previously mentioned; I believe those pertain only to USA? Will I be disadvantaged because I have not earned any of these? It’s not like I’ve been able to
