Hello,
I am currently a Sophomore who Hon. Alg 2 and I am thinking of taking Precalculus over the summer and doin calc in junior year. In my school, honors precalc is weighted. So if I want to do it over the summer will it get it added to my weighted gpa? or will I have to do it in school to get that?
Or am I getting this all wrong and summer courses don’t apply to gpa or something, I have never taken a summer course so I don’t know how everything works.
Thanks!
(sorry for my English, it isn’t my main language.)
You need to talk to your guidance counselor to see how your school handles classes taken outside of school. I’d also caution you about taking a foundational course over the summer. Talk to your counselor!
What is the reason you want to take calculus in 11th grade instead of 12th grade?
Check with your counselor - every school has its own policies around grades.
Fwiw, summer courses at my D’s school have the single grade received assigned to each quarter of the following year, weighted and factored into the GPA like a regular class. One semester classes are assigned to the first two quarters.
unless you are taking it through your school you would want to talk to your guidance before signing up since they may not give credits for courses not approved by them. As to how they apply them to your gpa that is very school specific. It might be addressed in your school handbook but otherwise check with guidance.
My assumption was you were taking this through your school. Is this correct?
