My DS has been invited to apply...just wish he'd get on those essays. Anyone have experience with the program and have thoughts to share? Thanks!

I don’t mean to cyberstalk you; it’s coincidence, I swear.

My wife and I thought the Honors Program looked good for my son (a civil engineering major with a full ride), too. We pitched it a bit, and he passive-aggressively poo-pooed it. He had his own Private Agenda.

He got involved with the engineering stuff. Declined the Honors Program and varsity soccer. Instead, he played club soccer and intramural everything else (flag football, softball, volleyball, basketball). Reffed it, too. He was in a lab or on a field 18 hours a day, it seemed. He also was a member of PROS (Peer Review and Orientation Staff), sort of a mentor program, in junior and senior years. In the 70’s, I sort of did the same thing, but my passion was at the radio station, the magazine, the newspaper, and student activities (SAB then, RAH now). His roomies once posted a magnetic sign on the door called “Where’s Jake?”. Below that was a checklist with a movable magnetic X: Lab. Field. Gym. Library. Turns out that I probably got more pride out of that than the Honors Program.

I have heard great things about the Honors Program, but the #1 perk is the new deluxe housing on Rowan Boulevard. No reason to sweat. DS’ll find his own path.

My daughter is currently a fresh chem eng major and is the honors program. She lives in the honors dorm this year and it has been a wonderful experience. She has made great friends and the adjustment to college life was very easy. Many of the kids were tripled which is a drag, but they all tend to hang out in the dorm lounge on a daily basis. Being in honors does guarantee housing on campus every year. As a parent I would strongly recommend the program.

WMA630…thank you for your reply. My DS was just accepted into the honors program yesterday! We plan to go the Honors Reception in April to hear more about it.

Good morning! Have any other Rowan Freshman Honors Students been assigned to Evergreen Hall? I thought all Freshman Honors would be housed in Mullica. I guess it was a bigger group this year…
