My son just got a letter that he's been accepted into the honors program. Does anyone know anything about the program?

I’m planning on attending Susquehanna next year and I’ve also been accepted into the honors program. Basically, I only know what I’ve read about it on the Susquehanna website ([Susquehanna University - Academics: About the Honors Program](http://www.susqu.edu/academics/10233.asp)). The general details I’ve picked up are that you’re required to take about one honors course a semester (most of which are “thought” centric), you must write a sophomore essay and maintain a 3.4 GPA while attending. I’d recommend checking out the website and scrolling through the links in the honors program section. I have a few friends currently at Susquehanna who are in the honors program if you’d like me to ask them for more information.

Is your son planning on attending the Honors Program evening event? I want to go but I have a previous commitment so I’m unable.

Thanks for the info, buzzingbee. I’m not sure yet if DS can attend. It will depend on his track meet schedule. Meets are usually on Friday evenings.

Yes, if you could ask your friends for more info, we would appreciate it! DS is going to have some tough choices to make pretty soon, so we need to be as informed as possible.

I’m so sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner! I didn’t realize you replied. I talked to one of my friends who I thought was in the Honors Program, but she actually wasn’t… She did say, however, that “…if you can get into it, you should probably try to do so. It’s basically like taking an AP class in high school. A little more work, but worth it. It looks good on a resume.”

One of my regular substitutes at school was a member of the program, so next time I see her, I’ll ask. Once again, sorry for the delay!

Thanks for the reply, buzzingbee! We will be able to attend the event on Friday, after all, so we should get a lot of good information. We’ll stay for Accepted Students Day, too. They have offered him an amazing scholarship, so we’re definitely interested.
