Honors Program - Early Registration?

Does anyone know if the honors program lets students register for classes before regular students? I cannot find anything about it online, or any other real benefits of the honors program for that matter…

Nope, honors students register at the same time as everyone else. The only difference is that there are a few (really very few) classes that are honors and open only to honors students, so those classes don’t tend to fill up as fast so you have a better chance of getting into them vs. regular sections of that same class.

Thanks! Speaking of registering for classes, do you happen to know how hard it is to get into classes at slo? Specifically the business classes - I want to make sure I can graduate in 2 years as a transfer.

Hmmm…I’m not sure about businesses classes specifically. I think the business department has more larger lecture classes than some other departments, so that should make it at least a bit easier. I know that it’s pretty tough to get into most ge’s, but if you’ve already got those out of the way it should help.

uhh well you know the honors program is not accredited so it won’t show up on your diploma right?

Look into the Green Light Program in the Business School.

I did not know that the honors was not accredited. I was pushing my S to do it. You can still graduate with honors w/o being in the honors program.

I don’t know what accredited means but here is the recognition statement from the honors page:

“Honors students who complete the Program requirements earn a “with Honors”
distinction on their diploma and are awarded a special sash to wear during graduation ceremonies. The Honors Program holds an Honors Recognition Day event each spring for the students, their families, and the Cal Poly community to celebrate the achievements of the Honors students, and to award various distinctions to particularly outstanding students.”

Sounds very “Honorable” to me!
