You need a 3.5 GPA
I didn’t apply either, but received an invitation.

honestly it’s difficult to say how hard it would be because it really depends on your major, minor(s), etc. you’d have to take at least one honors course per semester your sophomore, junior, and senior years (with the exception of one semester). it really shouldn’t be that hard because you could cover some liberal learning requirements with the honors courses, but again I can’t really give you a definite answer because everyone’s situation is unique.

I’ve heard of a few instances in which my friends are “invited to be tcnj honors students” and to “indicate if they accept the offer”…but I’m confused. Is it possible that anyone over a certain SAT score received the exclusive invitation without the filling out the application? That’s the only reason that seems logical, but I’m still curious…

I haven’t heard of that happening. Were they invited to be part of the honors program or werre they invited to attend an “honors luncheon?”…because I was invited to go to an honors luncheon type thing fall of my senior year. I mean it could be possible they were just invited to be in the program but everyone I know in the program had to apply and write the essay and get letters or rec and what not.

I got this on April 22 last year, but I decided not to do the honors program.

Back in February or in early March, you should have received a letter, inviting you to join the Honors Program at TCNJ. In that letter, I asked that you to reply by email, no later than May 1, 2009, indicating whether you accept the offer of membership in our Honors Program. The deadline has not changed and your slot in the program is still guaranteed.

So I think it’s possible. Not sure if I would have had to write something had I decided to do honors though.

Yeah my friends were specifically invited to join the honors program whereas I was invited to apply for a membership… I went to the “Scholars Reception” with one of these friends back in the fall, but I don’t think it’s related to this.

Glacius, it sounds like my friends have their places in the program guaranteed too. My letter, however, implies i have to go through an application process. As a caveat, it also states that only 10% of the incoming freshman class is accepted.

Considering I was invited to that scholar’s reception and my verbal/math SAT is 1430 ( maybe the “cut” is 1500?), I hoped to be automatically accepted to the honors program, but I still think it’s worth applying. Now I have to go crank out another essay because apprently honors admission is rolling…Oh well, I’ll stop complaining because I love TCNJ regardless…
