Honors Program?

I just got a letter about the Honors program or DHP as they call it. Does anyone know anything about it?

Extra courses each semester. Separate living quarters...just what the pamphlet said.

Sounds like a whole lotta nothing to me...

If anyone who has been through the program wants to comment then go right ahead. It just seems... shady...

While we are talking about the DHP, does anyone have any comments on IS? I would like to hear from people who have gone through it so I can decide whether or not to do it.

Did everybody get one of those? Or is it only for a select group?...

That is a good question because the letter made it seem like there was only a select group. I asked someone else who is going to Davis and she said she hadn't recieved anything.

i got it, but im guessing most ppl did get it since they dont base selection on GPA or SATs just some essays so they should give everyone a chance to enroll in the program

Does it matter?

not to me....

Yes. Because if it is something insignificant that everyone gets I won't worry about pursuing it. However, if it is something only a select few are eligible for it'll be worth my time to apply...

Okay does any one actually know anything about it?

i would take advantage of any opportunity the school offers to get closer to professors. i'll be applying for the program.

the honors challenge is open to all students.. however the IS program is only for the top 3%- I'm trying to decide which to apply to. Any advice?

IS is fabulous. My son is an ISer this year, and I've known many students over the years who attended. All of whom loved it.

IS (the integrated study honors program) has been around since 1969. Top students live together in the best new dorm on campus and the students take their GE course requirements in small, seminar style classes, with excellent faculty that love to teach. The classes are unique - very similar to what one would get at a top LAC.

IS is exclusive and by invitation only for students within the top 3% of admits.

Students also have priority registration every quarter - that is a huge perk!

It is a great opportunity.

The DHP is open to all students that are dedicated to being challenged. No GPA or score requirements.

Wicked, smart move, good strategy, good luck.

O this is good. So was that letter just telling us about the DHP or was it also an invitation to the IS

Read your letter, the Davis Honors Challenge is mentioned in my daughters letter, anyone can apply, some get accepted. Does yours mention IS or DHC. Usually IS is limited to the top 3%.

i applied for the IS program and i got it! I'm pretty excited- is anyone else in IS?

I haven't decided whether or not I am going to do IS, but I am leaning toward yes, so maybe I will see you in the IS dorms. :)

how do you apply for the IS? i thought you only get invited?
