yes, I think so. There is also no number to call, etc.

I think Masterus means yes, it is a hoax.

To answer the OP's question, no, it is not real.

I meant no, I read your question differently. Sorry. It's not real.

Hmm only Sarah Ann (OP) and theoneo posting on this thread so far? How delightful! I'll join in.
It's a hoax.
Quote theoneo. ;)

Psycho! Where have you been?

I'd pay the 50 dollars. It might be useful for college. Haha, but I thought everything that asked me for money was a scam. Like when NYLC sent me some thing, I threw it away, but now it turns out that going would have shown "leadership".

It's a hoax, most of these things are unfortunetly.

If you have to pay, it's usually a scam.

As for NYLC and similar programs, they aren't scams, but they also aren't honors that will open doors at top colleges. The programs are basically well organized programs that are open to any h.s. student who can pay for them. They may be valuable learning opportunities for students who are interested in what they focus on. However, participating in those programs isn't going to impres colleges like HPYS, which are impresed by opportunities that students create for themselves, and free opportunities like RSI and TASP that have extremely selective admissions policies. The top colleges aren't impressed by packaged opportunities that students pay big bucks to attend.

Organizations should have their own fund. Unlike the SATs and AP Exams you have to pay FOR the paper and the ink used on it.

Duuudddeee it's Chaos! Ha, I've been offline lately and busy with school work. I log on here now and then. :) Yep, just saying.

Anyways, to validate this tangent of a post, I'll also say that Who's Who and NHR aren't worth anything either.

Generally anything that goes along the lines of "OMG you are so speshul!!1!" and then requests $50 so they can remind you of how special you are with a plaque or a book of other special people is a scam.

I once got an invitation to a leadership conference that was addressed to me, but listed me as being in middle school and the other attendees were in my little sister's grade, not mine.

Closing this 8 year old thread.
