<p>Honors to Date is cumulative. You need to maintain a cumulative GPA that is equal to or higher than the current year’s “Distinction” GPA limit (this year, it was 3.712). So, if you’ve taken 12 or more letter-graded units at Cal and your GPA is 3.712 or higher, you get the “Honors-to-Date” notation on your transcript. If you drop below the Distinction limit in the future, the notation will disappear until you bring your GPA back up. It’s cumulative.</p>
<p>Dean’s List is on a semester-by-semester basis. You need to take 13 or more letter-graded units in one semester and be in the top 4% of L&S undergrads in one semester in order to make the list for a particular semester. You could have a cumulative GPA of a 2.1, get straight A’s in a 13-unit schedule in a future semester, and make Dean’s List.</p>
<p>Distinction is also cumulative, like Honors to Date, but you don’t receive the distinction until you graduate. Honors to Date is basically a way of “tracking” your progress toward potentially graduating with Distinction.</p>
<p>Does Dean’s list show up on transcripts? I finally got a real 4.0 this semester lol, don’t see anything about it on my transcript though</p>
<p>Dean’s list isn’t shown on the unofficial transcript on Bear Facts. L&S does send an email congratulating you on your achievement but they usually send it out a couple of months after the end of the semester.</p>
