Honors vs. CP track

Hey guys,
I was curious to hear your input on whether
there is a crucial difference between the
Honors and CP tracks. I’m was in English 9CP for freshmen year and I would really like to be
in English 10H this year. During the school
year I maintained an A average in the class and at the end of the year I made a petition for
English 10H; the petition was denied so I wrote an appeal and i’m now awaiting a response
from the english department chair. The real pain in the arse is that i’m on vacation and in the event my appeal is also denied I will be
unable to take the class. But, if I return from
My vacation 3 days earlier I can take a placement exam which, could guarantee me a seat in the class. Is it really worth the hassle to travel back three days earlier to take the exam or
Should I risk it, and wait for my appeal to be reviewed with the chance that it is denied and I’m stuck on the CP track. Any input would be great, thanks.

(Excuse my grammar and spelling mistakes)

The main difference @ my school is the Honors weighting (+5 points and a 4.5 GPA instead of 4.0 for regular). The honors class also covers an extra book or so.

Does you school make you sign a waiver to be placed in the class or is it dependant on the teacher(s)/English board?

@TheSlacker16 For my school placement is determined by the department chair, thanks for your response. My only concern was whether either track(honors/CP) would allow me more options in terms of AP classes. I appreciate your response.

No problem.

Usually to enter AP you need to be in Honors, at least in English. In Math and Science we are allowed to jump from CP to AP (w/an A/B) without taking honors.
