Dropped out of honors 10th grade?

Hello,
I took 4 honors classes this year in my freshman year. However, I got cocky and underestimated the difficulty of Honors English and my first essay i got was a c-. I realized I needed to work harder and brought my grade up to an A, but the writing average was 79.5, 0.5% lower than the requirements to pass into Honors English 10. As a result, I won’t be able to take honors english OR history(they are block classes) in sophomore year.

Would I still be able to get into the UC’s such as Berkeley or UCI if I took CP english/history then transfered into AP in junior year? I am confident I can do well in the CP class, because at my school the gap between CP and honors/AP is big. My GPA is around 3.8 right now, but I have stronger EC’s such as state orch, student run organization, medical volunteer and an SAT score of 2200(right now, probably will go up to atleast 2300 by junior). My major will definitely be in biology, probably molecular biology or biochemical engineering.

Shortened version:
Would the fact that I dropped to CP in tenth grade hinder my chances of making into a UC? By how much?

Thanks for reading. I am new here so please excuse me if I sound dumb.

Some information about my school:
-VERY competitive, #1 in orange county
-winner of grammy gold award(2nd in nation)
-no class ranks.
-cannot take AP until 11th- so no weighted until 11th

Will the CPA English prevent you from taking AP? It wouldn’t in my daughter’s high school but I know in other high schools, students have to take the Honors class in order to qualify for the AP class later on. If so, have your parents meet with your GC and/or higher and advocate to let you in the Honors English next year. Actually this may be the way to go, regardless of AP class or not, It looks like you had a rough start but have shown in more recent marking periods you are able to do the harder coursework. Make sure you have As in the past two quarters and anticipate another A this quarter or semester. That would strengthen your argument for Honors English in 10th grade.

Good luck.
