Honors?

American accepted me and also awarded me the 20k in merit aid. Reading over my acceptance letter and package, I don’t see anything about being admitted into the honors program. Is there anything I can do to be considered for the honors program? or do I have to wait until the end of my freshman year to apply as a current student?

it just seems strange that they would offer me merit but not consider me qualified for the honors program.

why don't you double-check with admissions, preferably with your State rep admission counselor. it seems strange, but if the the top kids came in that strong, and the class is that very competitve, it might explain it. good luck.

I emailed admissions about this and they said that you need to have a high school gpa above 3.9 and SAT scores above 1450 (or the equivalent for ACT's)

Is that an unweighted GPA of 3.9? I know both from the "Day in the Life of Honors" presentation and from the recent reception we attended that both mentioned that they weight the GPA for consideration.

My son's weighted GPA was 4.18 and he had an ACT of 33 and he got $20K scholarship, but no Honors program.
