In an attempt to comfort deferred/rejected applicants, let's compile a list of all that we do not like about Stanford. Nothing is perfect, so what are Stanford's faults? I'll start: For one, it's on the West coast whereas most of our friends will at schools on the East coast so that means both fewer students within a reasonable distance from us and a much reduced chance of visiting with high school friends even once a month or so.

their basketball team sucks this year. They should not have let Montgomery leave. Also, their decision-delivery system is ancient. They should adopt an online thing (like UPENN) or allow decisions over the phone.

to everyone here...

even if you dont get into stanford
YOU WILL GO TO COLLEGE
everyone's stats here are amazing, and even though you might not get into a "top school" like stanford, youve already proven that you can and will rise to the top of whatever school you do go to.

and keep in mind that second tier doesnt mean second rate.

Stanford loses the Big Game to a crappy university called Berkeley.

The tuition is enormous if you have to pay full.

The classes are small so you can't steal credits (i.e. sitting in on classes without formally enrolling in them) because the professor knows everyone's name. You could probably steal classes at other schools.

It is awfully hard to get A's at Stanford.

Sometimes Berkeley people come on campus and jack your bikes. (They made my bike wheel look like a taco.)

When other people ask you where you go to school and you tell them you go to Stanford they automatically think you are snobby and elitist. If you wear a Stanford shirt to the movies, for example, a person might yell: "So how does it feel to be better than everyone else?!" People will be jealous about you and there is nothing you can do about it.

The bottom of your pants will have tons of grease marks from riding your bike all the time.

You will work like you have never worked before and still get a B. The era of easy A's has come to an end.

Sometimes you will stay up all night writing your IHUM and PWR papers.

If you go here you will see me, and I will harrass you. :)

P.S. I love this place but if you don't get in just scream STANFORD SUCKS!!

Lagunita food is only good for the first 2 weeks, then it all goes downhill from there.....

You can still apply to a Stanford graduate school after ugrad somewhere else, and then you will have a more diverse education, AND get to go to Stanford.

It's not always about the name of the school you attend.

Your future is not in ruins if you do not get into your first choice school.

Instead, it's about what you do and accomplish in relation to your peers and the opportunities present before you.

whats "stealing credits"?

" (i.e. sitting in on classes without formally enrolling in them) "

lol.

normal people dont go to classes they dont have to. or maybe thats just me.

I would totally steal classes!

Stealing classes rules. The most I ever learned was from a Discrete Mathematics class I sat in on at a community college during the summer of my senior year.

Like someone already said there's always Stanford for grad school which would actually look a lot better on resumes and stuff. If you're planning to go to grad school, which I assume most of you are, than don't worry about it. Generally it's the last place that you earned a degree that really counts when you're looking for a job or trying to impress someone. Besides with higher grades from another respectable school you shouldn't have a problem getting into grad school or getting a job. We all know you have to work your ass of to get an A at Stanford. Why not go somewhere else (if you don't get in of course) and have a more laid back and fun time at college. Then when you go to grad school (at Stanford) you can focus and it'll be just as good if not better than getting your undergraduate degree there.
-Sorry for randomness
-And don't get me wrong I love Stanford and if I get in I will definitely go, I'm just being prepared for a rejection letter on tuesday

Hear hear..

haha yeah. stanford sucks, until i get in.

LOL. I felt the exact same way last year before I got my admit letter.

Also, don't feel guilty about hating a school that rejects you. If I got rejected by all my top choice schools, I might be over at Berkeley yelling about how much "Stanfurd" sucks!

Remember, if you guys don't get in it's Stanford's loss. :(
