Hopeful Notre Dame Transfer

My goal is to attend Notre Dame after my Freshman year at University of Miami, Fl. I applied to ND and was rejected (definitely because my grades were too low, my act (31) was also fairly low for ND), should I send an email stating it’s still one of my biggest goals to go there? Currently I’m an Economics major in the business school, I know I would be transferring into the LAS at ND, since Economics is in the LAS at ND. Is there anything I can do besides getting a 4.0 Freshman year and joining many clubs and organizations? Thanks

Also, should I wait till after my Sophomore year?

Probably not the answer you want to hear but while I understand the attraction of ND, I think it is a terrible idea to start one college with the intent of transferring out. This will stand in the way of your making meaningful friendships, developing relationships with professors, and getting involved on campus. Then if your transfer doesn’t work out as planned you will be really stuck. I’d go to the college you enrolled in with the intent of staying all four years. It is fine to throw in a transfer application down the road but don’t count on it working out. You are in an excellent school and if you do well there you should be able to get anywhere you want to go in life. And FWIW my S attended grad school at ND so that may be an option for you as well.

You should absolutely adhere to the advice of @happy1. Notre Dame is a good school but it’s not always what admissions makes it out to be. Go to Miami with the plan of staying there four years. You’ll be much happier - I promise.

Definitely go for it if that’s what ya want! Make sure your first year courses match the expectations of NDs exactly. They really emphasize course selection
