Well, it's the time of the year when everyone is applying to colleges. Im in that same boat. But unlike my valedictorian friends, my chances of getting into any institution are very very slim. I can sit and regret my previous indifference towards school- but that sure wont get me anywhere. SO in the state of being extremely nervous, and extremely hopeless, I finally mustered up courage to put my stats on display.. and await evaluation.
Here they are:

What an extensive list of ECs! No not really. These are activities to which I have dedicated substantial amounts of time. I feel that they are definitely worthy of mentioning, however, they are not anywhere near the amount of ECs I have seen listed on this site. Ah..

The only school to which I am even considering applying is George Mason, and that would be a reach. I honestly dont know what to do. :(

YOu are worried becuase this site does this to people. Many people would love to get a 1220 SAT. YOu didn't metion what size, location ... of the school you ar e looking for. Public/private .. whatever. There aer many shools you can get into with no problem. Tell a little more ablut what you want and I'm sure people can make up lists for you.

You are definately not hopeless. I think you have a good chance at GMU...but I would also suggest checking out some of these:

Again, just my 2 cents. Your upward grad trend will help you. Hope this helps some. Good luck. :)

Sure, you are not likely to get into Harvard, Yale or Princeton. But outside of about 40 to 50 colleges in the nation, your chances are very good (and the list of possibilities is in the hundreds). For George Mason, your SAT is actually significantly higher than average. If your GPA puts you anywhere in the top 50% of your class, you can almost consider GM to be a safety not a reach, particularly with the upward grade trend. If you want to consider other colleges (and you should to give yourself options even if George Mason is your top choice), a place you may want to start is the following (provided by U of Texas) which provides a list of many 4 year colleges by state and a link to each college's website: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ/state/
Take a look around and in particular search for freshman profiles where the college provides the usual SAT and class ranks of their middle 50% admittees. You will find for many that you have little to worry about.

As far as what type of school I'm considering... anywhere I can get in.. Well almost anywhere. The thing is, I know that this is a bad approach, but what else can I do? Size really doesn't matter. I'll be alright in either a big, or small school. For example, I love Michigan State University. However, my grades and SAT score hurt my chance.
